Well, technically not an event hosted at an operating speedway, but prior to construction of Flemington Speedway the property was known as Camp Fair Oaks. In 1862 my great great grandfather mustered there to enlist with the 15th NJ Volunteers for the Civil War. Interestingly, another soldier who mustered there was named Paul Kuhl (same name as subsequent track promoter) who later became a Sergeant and KIA.
