Question #1:  What volume level do you speak at and/or have your volume control set at when you are announcing a race during green flag conditions?

Question #2:  What volume level do you speak at and/or have your volume control set at when you are announcing when there are no cars are on the track, and/or during yellow flag conditions?

Question #3:  What volume level do you speak at and/or have your volume control set at when you are conducting victory lane interviews (no cars on the track)?

Question #4:  What volume level do you speak at and/or have your volume control set at during intermission when there are absolutely no cars on the track?

If the answered was the same for all four of the above questions, then you're not doing your complete job.

Does anybody send anyone out of the booth on race night to do sound checks?  Doesn't "sound" like it.

The inattentiveness to this, by following the lazy path of "louder is better" absolutely ruins the experience of the fan in the stand during the conditions referenced in questions 2, 3, & 4.  ....And when you consider that is the majority of any short track racing program, that is a lot of time that could should be enjoyed by those in attendance, in the spectator stands.

At a time when we should be looking for ways to encourage folks to come out to the track and enjoy a night in the stands, (and more importantly, want to return again), tracks continue to overlook what should be a pretty easy fix, and continue as they always have... announcing way too loud at times that it shouldn't be.

Not a whole lot more to say about the subject, but if an announcer is reading this, and doesn't understand what I'm getting out, then get out of the tower/have someone do a sound check and see how unneccesarily loud the PA is when there is absolutely no need to be, to the point that people sitting next to each other can't even have a conversation over top of the absolutely inappropriate high volume level that is blaring out of the speakers during non racing conditions.
