Below are photos of my attempt at a model of an early (1950s) stock car out of Hackettstown.  That odd looking front bumper is a 1950 Buick Super grille.  The car was owned and driven by Bob Burk.  He and his stepfather Willis "Squire" Bergen owned the B & S Body Shop located at 509 Washington Street, Hackettstown.  This was the source of the car number.  The last three photos are of the original car taken at the body shop.  These fuzzy copies were given to me by my late friend Jack Pace, a friend of Bob Burk and cousin of racer Dave Pace.  There was a lot of race car activity there.  This car was the first, followed by a 41 Ford coupe #509, Dave Pace's first stock car (a 37 Ford flat back #76) and a couple of early #808s driven by Dave Pace.  What really made me try to build this model was the fact that the body shop and these race cars sat directly across the street from the old HackettstownHigh School, which I attended.  Before I learned anything about dirt track racing I was intrigued by and drawn to these cool looking cars and eyed them daily.
