Maybe back then it was more of an exception, where now it seems to be the rule!


I think the abundance of wrecking each other now, whether intentional or by making low percentage moves that end up causing a wreck, is because of a lack of fear. 


Fear that they won't get hurt


Fear that they won't get their azz kicked when they get back to the pits, or in the parking lot.


It is probably also because back then, most drivers had to fix their own wrecked stuff, and pay for their own wrecked stuff.  Now, most wouldn't know a spark plug from a sparkler, and as far as the cost of stuff, the one size fits all "I hate that we tore up a good car, and I feel bad for the boys back at the shop" seems to be all that's needed to cover the tab of another wrecked race car.
