I was working in the Flemington pits in the mid 1990’s. During intermission one Saturday night, they brought out about a dozen “classic” stock cars to turn some leasurly exhibition laps, one of them being the Joe Severage #7. After a couple of times around, the #7 figured “let’s have some fun” and just stood on the pedal for a few laps! I had almost forgotten what a Rat motor sounds like at full throttle! I looked around and just about every crewman had stopped what they were doing and were just staring at that blue and white #7, eyes following it around the track. Even saw a few with stopwatches out.
