A sad day 43 years ago yesterday (November 29, 1978), when Mike Grbac passed away from his injuries from his crash at Reading one month earlier.
(Speaking of 43, Mike is shown here at Nazareth Speedway in the Jim Horton 43 in 1972.)

The day we lost Mike Grbac was indeed a sad, sad day. He was gifted with great racing talent as well as a tremendous personiality. Tough to dislike him. Didn't this Horton hot rod become Jimmy's first ride (as a sportsman). Scott Ely |

A very sad day indeed. After learning what happened to my friend and fellow racer Mike l added X bars in the top of the roll cages of my cars. Another sad reminder what has to happen to make our cars safer.

Was there that day as a crew member on the Carberry 99. One of the worst days of my racing life. Hard to believe it's been so long. RIP Mike. You are missed
