There was plenty of excitement on any given Saturday night at Flemington Fair Speedway back in the 70's, and during those days, with the outside wooden fence, part of that excitement usually included some wild rides, this time between turns 3 & 4, which led to the often well deserved nickname for the speedway of "Flippington." From the Lens of Nelson Ivins - Charlie Voorhees #705:
I remember a few years ago, a fellow that was friends with Charlie said that he chose the # 705 because if upside down, it read S-O-L.... as in sheet outta' luck! Charlie cars were always bronze and black like the Norcia cars, and I remember him having Ozzie's on the side of the car which was a salvage yard on Harts Lane in East Brunswick. This wouldn't be the only tumble that Charlie took as I remember him flipping his Gremlin a year or two after this one, on the frontstretch at East Windsor Speedway. |

Lee DeValt sneaking by in the #22. The picture of the #705 standing on the rear bumper was printed in a lot of publications. The #705 and #307 of Charlie Gunther provided a lot of action in that turn for Nelson.
