The 2 was Stu Paer. A real character and car guy. Came to Wall Stadium in 2006 with Vinnie Green and fell in love. Soon after that he bought and raced a factory stock at Wall and New Egypt. In the meantime, he owned a Good Guys, Charlotte winning, street rod and a half dozen other cars just as nice. He bought a Mark Martin IROC car at the IROC auction in 2008. He was a blast to be around because you never knew. He calls me on a Thursday to find him a modified to buy and race that Sunday at Mountain Speedway. Made a deal with Justin Gumley for his Modified and off to Mountain that weekend. The 2 car was Justin's car that I had rebuilt for Stu that winter. Jimmy Blewett drove it to an opening second place in 2009, after his car broke that night. He also had a Vintage Funny Car that he raced at Vintage events in the Northeast and often won. Stu got sick in early 2010 and died the end of that year. Sad, because Stu had a huge heart and would help everyone who needed. He attended the Matheny Christmas Parties the few years I knew him. He was awesome!

Thanks for posting the picture of Stu.
Not sure if you remember or not Kev, but one time I had to meet up with you for something in the middle of the day and you, Stu and I had lunch somewhere in Red Bank.
Question: How did you/Stu end up with a 55 Chevy drag car on the frontstretch at Wall? Was that from back when Jim Morton used to have the car shows I think on Friday nights maybe, and they would let folks take pace laps driving their street rods behind a pace truck? |

Joe, I remember our lunch with Stu. I forget why we were in Red Bank, but I remember telling you you gotta meet this guy Stu.
Bill, they were on the most cars in the 70's too.

Joe, second part. I'm working in my garage one afternoon and I could hear off in the distance a pretty loud car. Heard it for five minutes or so and it was getting closer and louder. Whenever I hear something like that I go out and check out what's coming. IT WAS LOUD! Here Stu pulls in my driveway with his Big Block, Blown, dual carb. 55 Chevy Gasser, Open exhaust and a screaming blower! "Let's go to Wall Stadium, you drive!" A gasser is made to go fast and straight ONLY. What a ride!!! We pull in, the gates are open, so down on the the track to victory lane. Jim Morton (track manager/promoter) was very surprised but absolutely loved it! Quick photo then back on the road for some real nervous driving. That was Stu and that was Stu all the time.
Once more
