Tom Hager (Hager the Horrible) was quite a character and a damn good racer too. Here's some pictures and articles about Tom. Feel free to share your pictures and personal racing stories.
Tom drove for a few owners. Here's the Silliman #4 Falcon.
Tom and his bride were supposed to be married on the front stretch at Flemington, but rain moved it to the pole barn behind the back stretch.

No. Dad drove the 43 once or twice though, the throttle hung going down the backstretch at Flemington one night and he shortened it a couple feet. I think Tom had it ready for Nazareth the next day! |

Thanks Lenny for doing this Great Tribute to Tom...My opinion is Tom never got the recognition he deserved.. Hard working, never say quit, Get it fixed no matter bad it is and One of the top drivers from our era..Yes I was in the left 43 in the double pic. (The first wreck pic the car had the C on the door from me running it)..Opening day the following year we went to Fonda for 50 lapper and I got second (Lazzaro won) and Tom got third.. When we arrived in the pits that day Tom says heres the box of gears and theres all the tires in the rack so pick what you want and i'll use whats left..HOW MANY OWNER DRIVERS WITH A SECOND CAR WOULD DO THAT??..Tom was a great friend I had in racing...He needs a monument in Easton Pa..Not to many could do as great as him with so little to work with..I would put him and Kenny Brightbill in that same catagory...HtH |

3 wide, I was standing to the left of Tom when that pic was shot. I didn’t want to get in the way. Big Tom was one in a million. I had a helping hand in putting together Toms light Blue 43 ( I think it was 2001 or 2002) car and was wondering if anyone has a pic of that car... |

I remember riding on that poor mini-bike with Tom at Syracuse...That is the week he broke his ankle. He had a couple adult drinks and rode up Johnny Harrols flat bed ramps.. Thought he was Evil Knevil i guess..he fell off the side..Ouch....Fun times before that happened...1976 or 77... |
