As a kid growing up in Fairless Hills, I could hear the Indy cars when they raced at Langhorne. Finally got to the last Indy car race, which was won by Gordon Johncock. |

I think it's Langhorne June 1970. 52, Jerry Karl, 62 Darrell Dockery and 59, Gig Stephens. Not sure Gig is listed in a 58, maybe a typo in Champ Stats? |

Per race recap and results in Dick Wallen's 1970s book, I agree with you. Book mentions the Dockery/Stephens incident on first lap, also lists Stephens in a #58. It is the June 14, 1970 race, the last Indy car race at Langhorne. Race was won by Bobby Unser. I regret that I never got to see a race there. I did get to watch a live telecast of that race, was produced by a sports network and was televised locally on a UHF channel that I was barely able to pick up. I recall the Sam Sessions crash into the front guardrail and the time it took to free his legs from the crash. |

Thanks Greg. Are you talking about the Sam Sessions fireball crash? It happened right in front of us. Very hot, we felt like we all got instant sunburn from it. |

Yes re Sessions crash. I recall seeing firemen surrounding the car as rescue crews were working to free his legs, fearful of a flare up of the flames. |
