Had the privilege of attending the Garden State Vintage Stock Car Club's annual banquet yesterday.  Really enjoyed the stories told by all the inductees.  Congratulations to all the inductees. For me personally, it was special to witness the induction of KEVIN EYRES.  I've got to know Kevin a few years ago via the Matheny School Christmas Party.  Earl Krause hi-lighted Kevin's accomplishments at Wall which, in my opinion, are pretty impressive.  But I also feel his dedication to those children at Matheny might be his greatest accomplishment.  I've said it before and it bears repeating.  For me, there's no better feeling in the world than the one I got when interacting with those kids.  Kevin turned me on to the Matheny School party.  Scott Ely

Another great banquet organized by GSVSSC, and what a turn out...  The place was packed!

I know there are some folks that were there that visit our board here frequently, and who like to view, but never/rarely post, and I know I didn't get to say hello to all of them.  Just a few that I can remember seeing (some I was able to say hello to, and unfortunately a few I missed) were Gil Hearne, Ace Lane, Tommy Lane, Earl Krause, Ray Shea, Herb Anastor, Steve and Pam Barrick, Photographer Jim Smith, Jim Hall, Buck Hurley, John Baker and a few more that I'm sure I'm forgetting.

Big thanks to Ed73 ad Pee Wee Fan for making the somewhat long drives in to surprise Kevin, and to be part of the event.  It never disappoints, and I hope you guys feel the same about yesterday's banquet.

Thank you to all who were involved in making it happen.  It's a day to feel great about being a fan of local short track racing.

If you've never been to the GSVSCC Banquet you should go. It's so well run and one of the best events of the year. Ray Shea and the whole club do a great job. Earl Krause is an excellent Emcee, knows more about the people than they know! Seeing friends and competitors from years past is a real treat. Just getting people together in a very relaxed atmosphere makes it very special.

Congrats to Kevin on his induction. Thanks for all you do for the racing community, not to mention your tireless efforts to the Matheny Christmas Party, for which I'm proud to be a part of. I've been to the banquet & it's a great time.

Not to get too awkward about the whole ordeal, but I'm very blessed to consider Kevin a "friend". I didn't know him when he had much bigger fish to fry than simply Bering on this website. But on a personal level , there is no one that enjoy texting during various races to share commentary about what we are watching. in the rate times that he gets to sit on the stands with a lowly fan to watch a feature, I've never enjoyed a race more simply due to busting his balls for being there or his wife for having married him.,,,,she's a sweetheart. His need to want to help all of those that were handed a less lucky card than we've all been given has proven time and again, what a hero this guy is ! You may never reality know what a good guy he is, simply because he likes to break balls...  but never forget, he makes all of us lowly "race people" look like rock stars ! Kev is a friend to all of us !

Thank you Tom, but I'm still gonna break your balls!  LOL   We do have some pretty funny text conversations especially about Ed.  LOL  Only kidding Ed!    Thanks!
