Back in the mid 60s, Tasnady was receiving appearance money to run the Fort Dix Speedway. He was driving a hot rod fielded by Augie Moschera that was painted (blue body, white top) just like his son Jackie's # S-1. Only difference was the car had red stripes painted on the roof. I recall the car was numbered S-1a but could have been S-1jr. Regardless of the number, it wasn't a threat to win. Met Tas at Augie's house and was amazed at how nice he was and that he was interested in what this dumb kid (me) had to say about racing. You can get a partial glimse of Tas's S-1a (or S-1jr) parked behind Augie Moschera with Pappy Smith's 107 in 3Wide's "Tuesday Black & White" section, half way down the page , right side. https://3widespicturevault.com/TUESDAY_BW_PICS_2020/Q06.23.20_TUES_001.jpg Scott Ely |
