The 5/28/24 edition of the AARN had a very good aroticle by Steve Barrick on DJ Ruppert, gas man on 3 Indy 500 winners.  Of note, DJ was the gas man for the winning Roger Penske/ Josef Newgarden teams in 2023 and 2024.  The article mentioned that DJ is a former modified racer, primarily at the New Egypt Speedway.  What the article did not mention, although I'm sure many 3Widers were aware of this, is that DJs grandparents are the late Al and Lynn Whitehouse, with his uncle and aunt being Rocco and Carole (Whitehouse) Infante.  So we local racing types can be proud of DJ as he grew up in a local racing family and now has a successful career in the sport.  I know Al and Lynn would be very very proud of their grandson, DJ Ruppert!   Scott Ely

Pretty cool to see DJ during the pit stop challenge, which the Newgarden Team won, and then seeing him kissing the bricks after this years Indy 500 win, with I think Roger Penske right next to him.

I met DJ when he was attending Mercer County Vo-Tech Automotive Technology program.  He and a teamate won a Automotive Diagnostic competition, and he then chose to attend the Nascar Institute of Technology in Mooresville NC, which is part of the Universal Technical Institute (UTI family of schools.)  I'm not sure but I think he was doing something intially with one of the Penske Nascar teams (like I said... I'm not totally sure), but when I saw DJ's Uncle (Rocco Infante) about 2 years ago, he told me that DJ was now the gasman on Newgarden's Indycar.

Pretty cool.
