 EVENT UPDATE:
Due to the extreme heat we are going to cancel tomorrow's event. We want our spectators, staff, and drivers all to be safe in this first heat of the year. There is also the risk of thunderstorms late in the afternoon.

We apologize for any inconvenience but wanted to make the decision early so everyone can adjust accordingly.

We look forward to seeing you all on First Responders Night.

From Walls Website

FAMILY FUN NIGHT SATURDAY, JUNE 22 HAS BEEN CANCELED DUE TO EXCESSIVE HEAT.

We apologize for the disappointment. We are worried about the health & safety of our racers, staff members and fans.

Simply put: it's the first heat of the year and we just aren't used to it yet. Don't worry, we won't be making a habit of canceling for heat this summer. We've just decided to take a break this time. It has been a long streak of hot weather.

All online ticket sales will be automatically refunded. Please allow 2-5 business days for the funds to be returned.

We'll be back next Saturday for the much anticipated GARDEN STATE CLASSIC 125 LAP MODIFIED MAIN EVENT!

Note: We were hit by lightning a couple weeks ago and the phone company is struggling to get our service back. Many melted wires.

Our phones are still out of order.

I remember going to Nazareth mile day show and then 1/2 mile on a 4th of July show...hot as blazes for the day show on the mile and then over to Jerry's place and it had to be in the 90's...can't remember any track that cancelled due to heat...OR cold for that matter back in the day..

went to nazareth for a double header maybe the same show - usac champ cars at the mile and 4 25s at night on the half mile , must have been high 90s with high humidity, it was so hot at the big track that van may pulled in for a pit stop to have a garden hose put down his uniform ! but dave bodine myself and bob fisher hung out for the hole day - not like the fair weather fans and snowflakes we have today= by the way i was going to go to new egypt = maybe some other time

Anybody know how hot it was the day of the Osmun Brightbill battle at Flemington? I'd be willing to bet they're both laughing at these posts about tracks canceling because of the heat.

Friggin' hot that day, I was there. Story was Osmun lost 20#'s and was always in good shape. I'm sure not gonna pass judgement on the tracks canceling because I wouldn't want to be out there doing track prep, food prep, etc but you only have so many weekends to race. Lincoln pushed their start time back to 8 pm, not a bad idea.

I don't remember being too hot at a race except going to the fall cup races at the old Richmond Fairgrounds in the 80's. I do remember Nazareth being brutally cold when it was windy early in the season.

Yup... It was hot for sure, but also, we ended up having thunder and lightning around 4pm followed by at least 30 minutes of rain, so heat, rain...whatever... it was a no win situation for a track trying to run a succesful show (I'm about 12 mins northwest of the track and usually have similar weather.)

Definitely the right decision to cancel, whether for heat, or rain forecasted, not to mention that even if the rain hadn't happened, it would have been a very light crowd because of the heat.

As a non-affiliated with any raceteam/track staff, I would have sat the night out, however if it had been a 7pm or 7:30 start time (knowing the peak sun was behind the stands) and if I had confidence that they could move the show along and get it done in 3 hours, I would have considered going if they were running.

First of all, thank you DON for alerting we 3Widers about NES cancelling.  Second of all, I admit to ocasionally offering "constructive criticism" regarding NES, BUT they did the right thing this weekend.  Scott Ely
