I guess it was because of the political debate on Thursday night, but out of the blue, we had a few posts today from folks who just can't seem to post on this racing board without adding a political comment, whether obvious, or not so obvious.

Here's the deal....  Read what it says at the top of the Message Vault.  If that doesn't work for you, and you just can't resist trying to influence others, or making sure we all know your political position, try using social media (Feacebook, Twitter/X, other), or maybe put a bumper sticker on the back of your car, or a sign on your lawn.  Just don't ever bring it here.  I'm not interested in your political views, I seriously doubt if others are interested as well, and we all have other sources available where we can go when we feel the need to be enlightened on the the subject.

The election isn't until November, so just wanted to make sure that we made this clear for those who are new to the board, or for those who forgot what it is that we do around here..., and while I'm not always sure what it actually is that we do, I am sure what we don't do, and that's politics.

HEAR, HEAR!! I’m 66 years old and have voted in every Presidential election since I was 18. In my profession, on a daily basis, I get to speak with more people than you could ever imagine. A long time ago, I realized that I would never be able to convert the opposition to my choice of candidate. The opposite is also true. Very apropos is the old adage “Never try to teach a pig to sing. You’ll just waste your time and annoy the pig”.

Hi Joe,  It's exactly why I stopped going to a certain local speedway a few years back.  I don't want to hear the election spew from the roving announcer.  I go to the races to escape the daily news, election and otherwise.  Talk about the races.  My best friends stay that way because we just don't talk elections and religion.  Thanks for letting me post.  Tim Weber

Joe- To coin a phrase, "You got my vote on this one!"  So, if you're not going to change my views or opinions, and I'm not going to change yours why bother.  My cousin and I are on different sides of the fence and we don't discuss the "P" word.  Because of that, I have to say our relationship is great.   Scott Ely

Here are 3 things I was taught you don't talk about as it was no one's business. Sex , religion ,and who you voted for. Seems to me we would still be better off today if we still went by those values.

Don't test him. Joe don't play. I commented on a nationally known law maker once here. Just once. My parents never told us who they voted for. We could figure it out but it was nobodies business but theirs. I attended the very small Burlington County Christian School in Juliustown, NJ in the early 70s. I did K-5 there. Anyhow I remember a student asking our teacher who she voted for once and the teacher scolded the girl for being impolite.

Kevin - Thanks for posting that because I think you brought up something very important, and that is I'm not looking to chase folks away from the board, and the few posts that we received that may have "danced" closely to the political arena were from great folks who we want to feel welcome here... And they definitely are.  It's just that I think it's best that we don't split what I think is an amazing group of racing folks into two separate groups (you know... us smart guys... and those idiots...  or is it those smart guys and us idiots Surprised ), all because folks have different political opinions.

The fact is that some who know me in different circles may think I have have strong political opinions, and if that's true, I'll never bring it to this board because I have enough faith in all of you to have done your own information gathering elsewhere and to have formed your own decision/direction, or are in the process of doing so, and know that you don't need some guy with a racing website to try to steer you one way or the other when it comes to politics.
