Let us know if you attended/watched something this weekend that you enjoyed, or other....

I was pretty much locked into family stuff this weekend, so didn't get to go anywhere, and tried to watch the cup race after the fact last night that I had DVR'd, but ended up with the first 3/4's of a race, then it changed to Olympic related stuff, since they switched coverage from NBC to USA Network near the end of the race.  Race ran long due to a rain delay.

How about you guys?

Great races at NES, Alot of Wild Bill Liedtka tribute before, during and after the event. Only gripe is 2 divisions with small car counts.  They did a great job of moving the show along due to threatening rain. It curbed the victory lane celebrations where they had a 1st time winner and the Simmons win with his having Liedtka's sportsman door panels on it as well as a win for Dom Buffalino who hasn't won in  a while in his own machine. All in all a great nite and the fans are happier campers this year.

Went to New Egypt as a fan in the stands. Modifieds, Sportsman, NEWS, Street Stocks, and, 4 cylinders. Admission $23.00

Likes - 33 Crates on hand, requiring a consolation race with 11 cars, the other 3 did not start. They had the Street Stock feature then a 30-minute intermission, followed by the NEWS, Modifieds, Crates, and 4 cylinders. Dominic Buffalino ran fast all night and won his heat race then in the feature he had to pass a few cars.  While trying to pass Wade Hendrickson, he had to hold off Ryan Godown. When he got to 2nd place he had to pass Jim Housworth. A yellow restart Dominic grabbed the lead the rest was history. I mentioned below in a post the tribute was great to see. Mike Thompson had to fight off a late-race challenge to edge out Hedi Heddin. I left with about 2 laps left in the Crate Feature as Ryan Simmons was checking out from the pack.

Notes - There was a small field of News 6 cars with one not starting in the heat race and the race finished with only 4 News at the end. There was a 360 sprint taking practice in both races. Only 12 cars in the 4-cylinder class.  Going back in a month? - Yes.

I watched the first and final round of the NHRA, not to spoil the results, but it was nice to see them get well wishes and wins dedicated to John Force. Nascar I tried to tune in but the rain and then the channel changed later I think I watched about 6 - 10 laps total. While flipping to other programs.

Too hot for any outside activities in NC this weekend and I went 3 hours south to Toccoa Speedway last Saturday. I'm good. F1 race was far better than Cup. It was a snooze that ended as a clown show. I've left tracks embarrassed by the show we put on. NASCAR should be embarrassed by that race. They probably aren't though, they created "drama".

Watched USAC sprints at Macon {IL} Friday and Saturday. Wingless 410's on a small track. Those drivers are brave? Nuts? Both?
